Triathlon: Olympic Champion Emma Snowsill Left Out Of Australian Squad

From Triathlete Europe

Reigning Olympic champion Emma Snowsill has been left out of the Australian Triathlon team selected for London 2012. Snowsill, who has struggled this year with injury and illness, was not part of the six-person squad selected by Triathlon Australia for the games this August.

After a tortuous selection process that was beset by drama, Snowsill was omitted in favour of Emma Moffatt, Emma Jackson and Erin Densham. Densham, in particular, has made life difficult for the selectors, returning from injury and winning two of the biggest races of the year so far (Mooloolaba and the ITU WTS in Sydney).

It is understood that Snowsill intends to appeal the selection.

The men’s team was also confirmed on Monday as Courtney Atkinson, Brad Kahlefeldt and Brendan Sexton. This leaves no place for Chris McCormack,
